SUBJECT: ARTS IN SANTA CLARITA
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council and the Arts Commission receive a presentation on the history of arts in Santa Clarita and
provide direction on the City's future focus for the arts.
BACKGROUND
At the November 12, 2013 City Council meeting, the Council discussed three art projects that the Arts
Commission had recommended for approval by the Council. The direction from the Council was to
place a hold on the art projects and schedule a joint study session with the Arts Commission to discuss
the Council's expectations and desires as it relates to public art in Santa Clarita.
Staff will provide the Council and Arts Commission with a chronological overview of the arts in Santa
Clarita, including but not limited to the evolution of arts leadership, the development and installation
of public art projects, and key accomplishments of the Arts Commission since its inception.
