BACKGROUND
The League of California Cities (LCC or League) is an association of California city officials
who work together to enhance their knowledge, exchange information, and combine resources to
expand and protect local authority for cities through education and advocacy to enhance the
quality of life for all Californians.
The LCC Annual Conference is scheduled for October 5-7, 2016, in Long Beach. An important

October 7, 2016, at the Long Beach Convention Center. At this meeting, the League membership
will consider and potentially take action on resolutions that establish League policy.
In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, the City Council is asked to designate a voting
delegate. The City Council may also appoint up to two alternate voting delegates, one of whom
may vote in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity. Only
City Council designated delegates and alternates may vote at the Business Meeting.
On January 26, 2016, the City Council affirmed the appointment of Councilmember McLean as
the delegate, and Mayor Pro Tem Acosta as the alternate, to represent the Council at the League
of California Cities Los Angeles County Division. Based upon the existing City Council
