BACKGROUND In February of 1993, the Council adopted a resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit funding applications and execute funding agreements with the Department of Transportation for planning, capital, training, demonstration and/or operating assistance grants. Since that time, a number of changes have been made to federal grant programs and this resolution would update the City of Santa Clarita's (City) authority and comply with current funding guidelines. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant application process requires a resolution by the City Council authorizing staff to file grant applications, receive funds, and administer the grant program. The purpose of the resolution is to authorize staff to file for eligible federal funds for the support of the City's transit and transportation services, pursuant to Sections 5307 and 5339 Urbanized Area Formula Annual Apportionment. The City receives approximately $5 million each year in FTA funding. ALTERNATIVE ACTION Other action as determined by the City Council. Page 1 Packet Pg. 165 FISCAL IMPACT None by this action. This resolution only allows the City to submit grant requests and enter into agreements to secure grant funding with the FTA. Fiscal impacts for projects funded with FTA grant funding will be addressed at the time of each project award.
