RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA,
CALIFORNIA, TO ESTABLISH A 560 -FOOT NO -PARKING ZONE BETWEEN THE,
HOURS OF 7:00 A.M.'AND 5.:00 P.M. ON SCHOOL DAYS ONLY, ALONG THE SOUTH
SIDE OF DEPUTY JAKE DRIVE BETWEEN MATTHEW PLACE AND MCGRATH
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the California Vehicle Code of the State of California
provides for local authorities to prohibit stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on certain
streets or highways or portions thereof during certain or all hours of the day; and
WHEREAS, 560 feet of no parking between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on
school days only, along the south side of Deputy Jake Drive between Matthew Place and
McGrath Elementary School, will improve the ways vehicles queue while waiting to enter the
school's parking lot and on -campus valet line during student pick-up and drop-off times; and
WHEREAS, it is consistent with normal traffic engineering practices to establish a
no -parking zone between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on school days only, along the
south side of Deputy Jake Drive between Matthew Place and McGrath Elementary School.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita does hereby
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That a no -parking zone between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on
school days only, along the south side of Deputy Jake Drive, starting at Matthew Place,
extending easterly to the driveway into McGrath Elementary School for a distance of 560 feet is
established.
SECTION 2. That the establishing of the no -parking zone between the hours of 7:00
a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on school days only shall apply when appropriate signs and/or curb markings
giving adequate notice therefore have been placed as described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of August 2017.
