SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF DONATED REAL PROPERTY OF 5 +/- ACRES
IN THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY
ASSESSOR'S PARCEL NO. 2841-015-008

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council:
1. Accept the donation of 5 +/-acres of real property, for the purpose of public recreational and
open space preservation, Assessor's Parcel Number 2841-015-008.
2. Appropriate $30,000 from Open Space Preservation District Fund Balance (Fund 358) to
Open Space Preservation District Expenditure Account 12592-5201.008 for the purpose of
property improvements, including signage, gates, and construction of trailhead.
3. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney
approval.
BACKGROUND
The owners of the subject property, Bob and Wendy Stevenson, approached staff with a desire to
participate in the City of Santa Clarita (City) on-going efforts to provide natural areas for public
recreation and enjoyment and the protection of our open spaces.
Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson have requested to contribute to the City's open space program with the
gift of real property, approximately five acres, adjacent to the City's existing Golden Valley
Ranch Open Space. The donation of the real property will enhance the City's continuous efforts
to preserve open space and provide additional recreational opportunities for residents. Funds of
$30,000 are needed for the purpose of property improvements, including signage, gates, and
construction of a trailhead. Staff will work with the donors to fulfill a request to name a trail in
memory of a loved one.

This acquisition has been reviewed pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act
(CEQA) and is exempt under CEQA guidelines Section 15313, Class 13, as an acquisition for
conservation purposes and Section 15325, Class 25, as a transfer of an ownership interest in land
to preserve open space and existing natural conditions.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
Upon approval of the recommended action, the budget will be adjusted accordingly.
