Approve a contract authorization increase in the amount of $35,623 to the current month-to- month landscape maintenance contract with Oakridge Landscape, Inc. for Landscape Maintenance District (LMD) Zones T68 (West Creek) and LMD Zone T69 (West Hills). 2. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all contracts and associated documents, and execute all documents subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND On August 1, 2017, responsibility for administering Landscape Maintenance District (LMD) Zones T68 and T69, in the recently annexed community of West Creek/West Hills, transferred from Los Angeles County to the City of Santa Clarita (City). Prior to this transfer, the City Council awarded a month-to-month contract to Oakridge Landscape, Inc. the incumbent landscape vendor previously under contract with Los Angeles County, for a period not to exceed 12 months, in an amount not to exceed $189,291. The award of a month-to-month contract was recommended to facilitate a seamless transition of service from Los Angels County, to allow for all remaining landscape areas identifed for maintenance by the LMD to be turned over by the builder to the City, and ultimately evaluate the level of maintenance necessary to manage these landscape zones. The homebuilder in West Hills is ready to turnover additional landscape areas for acceptance and maintenance by the LMD operation. Consistent with previous direction, staff is returning to the City Council to request additional expenditure authority for the existing landscape services contract with Oakridge Landscape, Inc. Specifically, staff recommends increasing the contract Page 1 Packet Pg. 30 7 for a revised total not to exceed $224,914. While the City Council has previously appropriated adequate funds in the current fiscal year budget to support increased operations, this additional contract authority is necessary for Oakridge Landscape, Inc. to take on the additional landscape areas being turned over to the LMD for maintenance by the homebuilder. Following acceptance of all areas within LMD Zones T68 and T69, staff will competitively bid and award a long-term maintenance agreement for these LMD zones. ALTERNATIVE ACTION Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund. Sufficient funds were appropriated as part of the Fiscal Year 2017-18 mid-year budget process.
