PUBLIC PARTICIPATION (ONE MINUTE LIMIT)
Pursuant to Government Code section 54954.3 members of the public are afforded one minute to
address the legislative body concerning any item that has been described in the special meeting
agenda.
CITY COUNCIL VACANCY - On December 4, 2016, Mayor Pro Tem Dante Acosta
created a vacancy on the City Council by resigning his seat on the City Council, as a
result of his election as a Member of the California Legislature. At the regular meeting
of December 13, 2016, the City Council approved a process to solicit applications from
Santa Clarita residents interested in being appointed to the City Council. The City
Council approved holding a special meeting on January 17, 2017 for purposes of
considering candidates and potentially appointing a new member to serve on the City
Council.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council receive report, consider candidate applications, hear applicant presentations,
discuss, and appoint a new Member of the City Council to serve the remainder of the
vacant term of office, currently set to expire on December 11, 2018.
