BACKGROUND The League of California Cities (LCC or League) is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge, exchange information, and combine resources to expand and protect local authority for cities through education and advocacy to enhance the quality of life for all Californians. The LCC Annual Conference is scheduled for September 12-14, 2018, in Long Beach. An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting scheduled on Friday, September 14, 2018, at the Long Beach Convention Center. At this meeting, the League membership will consider and potentially take action on resolutions that establish League policy. In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, the City Council is asked to designate a voting delegate_ The City Council may also appoint up to two alternate voting delegates, one of whom may vote in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity. Only City Council designated delegates and alternates may vote at the Business Meeting. As part of the annual consideration of City Council Committee Appointments earlier this year, the City Council selected Mayor Pro Tem McLean and Council Member Smyth to serve as the delegate and alternate respectively to the League of California Cities Los Angeles County Division.
