HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-01-08 - AGENDA REPORTS - SCV LLD TERMINATION OF PROCEEDINGS (2)Agenda Item: 3 DATE: January 8, 2019 SUBJECT: SANTA CLARITA LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING DISTRICT TERMINATION OF PROCEEDINGS DEPARTMENT: Neighborhood Services PRESENTER: Kevin Tonoian RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council adopt a resolution terminating proceedings commenced by Resolution 18-69 in connection with modifying assessments for parcels within designated areas of the Santa Clarita Landscaping and Lighting District. BACKGROUND On November 13, 2018, the City of Santa Clarita (City) commenced proceedings to modify assessments for parcels within designated areas of the City of Santa Clarita Landscaping and Lighting District through the adoption of Resolution 18-69. In consideration of community input and feedback, staff recommends discontinuing any further proceedings related to this action. The attached resolution terminates proceedings to modify assessments for parcels within the City's Landscaping and Lighting District and cancels the January 22, 2019, public hearing. In the future, staff will undertake community outreach and seek public input regarding modification of the streetlight maintenance assessment. Following Council adoption of this resolution, staff will transmit a letter to all affected parcel owners notifying them of the termination of these proceedings and cancellation of the January 22, 2019, public hearing. Page 1 ATTACHMENTS Resolution Terminating Proceedings Page 2 RESOLUTION NO. 19- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, TERMINATING ASSESSMENT BALLOT PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING DISTRICT WHEREAS, proceedings to modify assessments for parcels within designated areas of the City of Santa Clarita Landscaping and Lighting District were commenced with the adoption of Resolution 18-69 on November 13, 2018; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita desires to terminate the proceedings to modify assessments commenced by Resolution 18-69. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita, California, does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION 1. Termination of Proceedings: The proceedings commenced by Resolution 18-69 to modify assessments for parcels within designated areas of the City of Santa Clarita Landscaping and Lighting District are hereby terminated. SECTION 2. Public Hearing Cancellation: The public hearing scheduled for January 22, 2019, pursuant to Resolution 18-69 is hereby cancelled. SECTION 3. Notification of Property Owners: Property owners notified of the proceedings commenced and the public hearing scheduled pursuant to Resolution 18-69 shall be notified in writing that said proceedings have been terminated and said public hearing has been cancelled. SECTION 4. Effective Date: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage, approval, and adoption by the City Council. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 8th day of January 2019.
