SUBJECT: CITIZENS' OPTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY (COPS) GRANT -
FISCAL YEAR 2019-20

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council:
1. Accept the Fiscal Year 2019-
$330,543 from the Los Angeles County Auditor-Controller; approve the request from the Los
Angeles County Sherif
Career Offenders Burglary, Robbery, and Assault (COBRA) Team.
2. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute any contracts, agreements, or change
orders arising out of this program, subject to City Attorney approval.
BACKGROUND
Assembly Bill 1913 (Schiff-Cardenas Crime Prevention Act), signed into law in 2000, provides
funding to cities and counties for frontline law enforcement officers and juvenile justice
initiatives. This provi
The City of Santa Clarita (City) has been eligible to receive grant funding from this program
every year. The funds awarded are based on population, with each entity receiving a minimum

FISCAL IMPACT
The anticipated cost of this program is estimated to be $457,407 to be offset completely by grant
funds.
