SUBJECT: ESTABLISH A 240-FOOT NO STOPPING ANYTIME ZONE ON THE
EAST SIDE OF TOURNEY ROAD

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council:
1. Approve a resolution to establish a 240-foot No Stopping Anytime zone on the east side of
Tourney Road, south of the southerly driveway at 27200 Tourney Road.
2. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney
approval.
BACKGROUND
The City of Santa Clarita (City) received a request to investigate the sight visibility of the
southerly driveway of an office building located at 27200 Tourney Road. There is a safety
concern with the exiting driveway due to parked vehicles along the east side of Tourney Road.
Staff conducted a sight distance analysis at the driveway and determined that establishing a No
Stopping Anytime zone on the east side of Tourney Road, south of the southerly driveway, will
improve the visibility of oncoming vehicles when exiting onto Tourney Road.
The proposed No Stopping Anytime zone will restrict 240 feet of on-street parking (see attached
Traffic Engineering Exhibit). City staff contacted adjacent business owners, who indicated their
approval of the proposed No Stopping Anytime zone.
The recommended action supports the Public Safety theme of the City's five-year strategic plan,
Santa Clarita 2020.

FISCAL IMPACT
Adequate funds are available in Street Maintenance expenditure account 14504-5141.008 to
support the recommended action.

RESOLUTION NO. 19- _______
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA,
CALIFORNIA, TO ESTABLISH A 240-FOOT NO STOPPING ANYTIME ZONE ON THE
EAST SIDE OF TOURNEY ROAD, SOUTH OF THE SOUTHERLY DRIVEWAY AT 27200
TOURNEY ROAD
WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the California Vehicle Code of the State of California
provides for local authorities to prohibit stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on certain
streets or highways, or portions thereof during certain or all hours of the day; and
WHEREAS, a request was made to establish a 240-foot No Stopping Anytime zone
on the east side of Tourney Road, south of the southerly driveway at 27200 Tourney Road; and
WHEREAS, it is consistent with normal traffic engineering practices to establish a
240-foot No Stopping Anytime zone on the east side of Tourney Road, south of the southerly
driveway at 27200 Tourney Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita, California, does
hereby resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That a 240-foot No Stopping Anytime zone on the east side of Tourney
Road, south of the southerly driveway at 27200 Tourney Road, shall be established.
SECTION 2. That the 240-foot No Stopping Anytime zone shall apply when
appropriate signs giving adequate notice thereof have been placed as described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. That staff shall install the necessary signs to effect this resolution.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
