HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-07-14 - AGENDA REPORTS - LMD ZONE T23A (MOUNTAIN VIEW COURT HOMES) APPROPRI (2)Agenda Item: 11 P CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT CONSENT CALENDAR CITY MANAGER APPROVAL:1 DATE: July 14, 2020 SUBJECT: LMD ZONE T23A (MOUNTAIN VIEW COURT HOMES) APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS AND CONTRACT AUTHORITY INCREASE DEPARTMENT: Neighborhood Services PRESENTER: Kevin Tonoian RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council: Appropriate funds in the amount of $65,000 from Fund 357 to Landscape Maintenance District (LMD) Zone T23A (Mountain View Court Homes), account number 12513- 5161.010 (Landscape Services), for one-time enhancement projects and additional contract labor. 2. Authorize an expenditure authority increase to the City's existing contract with American Heritage Landscape in the amount of $65,000, for a total contract amount not to exceed $673,822.80. 3. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all contracts and associated documents subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND The City of Santa Clarita (City) administers 60 financially independent zones within the Landscape Maintenance District (LMD), providing landscape maintenance services for LMD operations through contracts with private companies. While base budget for individual landscape zones support ongoing maintenance and as -needed repairs, one-time enhancements require an additional appropriation and/or additional expenditure authority for contracts previously awarded by the City Council. Page 1 Packet Pg. 113 Staff is requesting a one-time appropriation of additional funds in the amount of $65,000 from available reserves in LMD T23A (Mountain View Court Homes) to support landscape enhancements requested by the local homeowners' association. Staff is also requesting an increase of $65,000 in expenditure authority with the existing contractor, American Heritage Landscape, to perform this work. The appropriation of reserve funds and expenditure authority increase will support landscape enhancement activities within the Mountain View community. This work includes upgrades to irrigation fronting each individual unit within the association, supplemental plantings, and additional contract labor. ALTERNATIVE ACTION Other action as determined by the Council. FISCAL IMPACT There is no impact to the General Fund. Sufficient Landscape Maintenance District Assessment reserves are available in Fund 357. Page 2 Packet Pg. 114
