Increase expenditure account 15303-5161.002 by $89,888 from the current budget of $160,516 to the proposed budget of $250,404 for Fiscal Year 2016-17. 2. Increase estimated revenue in account 259-4441.002 by $89,888 from the current budget of $484,806 to a total of $574,694 for Fiscal Year 2016-17. BACKGROUND On September 13, 2016, the City Council authorized the City of Santa Clarita (City) to enter into contracts with the Antelope Valley Workforce Development Consortium (Consortium) and the Santa Clarita Community College District to continue the operation of the America's Job Center of California (AJCC) at College of the Canyons (COC) for Fiscal Year 2016-17. The AJCC is a local employment resource for businesses and job seekers. The goal of the AJCC is to respond to the workforce needs of local businesses by closing the skills gap and preparing candidates for employment in high -growth industry sectors, ultimately placing them in employment. The Consortium recently notified the City that funding is available for the Santa Clarita AJCC to provide additional occupational and technical skills training to individuals receiving services through the AJCC. Training funds support various types of programs, including established, customized, and on-the-job training. The additional funding will help to maximize employment and training opportunities for our residents, and will provide workforce development training and education/tuition support to an estimated 20 additional individuals in Fiscal Year 2016-17. FISCAL IMPACT Funds to cover the costs of America's Job Center of California's services are provided by Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant funds and budgeted in expenditure account series 15303. The grant is reimbursement based, where the General Fund provides payment for services at the time invoices are due, and the City is reimbursed monthly by the Consortium. There is no City match required. Upon approval of the recommended action Professional Services account 15303-5161.002 will be increased by $89,888 from $160,516 to $250,404. Revenue account 259-4441.002 will be increased by $89,888 from $484,806 to $574,694. Page 2 Packet Pg. 25
