HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-06-22 - MINUTES - SPECIAL (2)Tuesday, June 22, 2021 CITY OF SANTA CLARITA City Council Special Meeting -Minutes- 5:00 PM CALL TO ORDER Mayor Miranda called to order the Special Meeting at 5:00 p.m. City Council Chambers ROLL CALL All Councilmembers were present, with the exception of Cameron Smyth who arrived at 5:05 p.m. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION FOR AGENDIZED ITEMS Addressing the Council on the California Voting Rights matter was Steve Petzold. CLOSED SESSION Joseph Montes, City Attorney, requested that the City Council add an item to the closed session under potential litigation (GC 54956.9(d)(2)) related to a claim filed by Santa Clarita LLC against the City on December 9, 2020, due to an issue which arose that day that requires a briefing for the Council. On a 4/5th roll call vote, Council approved to agendize the matter. Mr. Montes also advised of the need to conduct a Closed Session for the purpose of holding a: CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - ANTICIPATED LITIGATION Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(2) - Based upon letter dated February 4, 2020, from Attorney Scott Rafferty concerning the California Voting Rights Act (CVRA) CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - PENDING LITIGATION Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(1) Case Name: The City of Santa Clarita v. Canyon View Limited, LP et al. LASC Case No. PC 058773 RECESS TO CLOSED SESSION - TO BE HELD IN THE CENTURY ROOM Mayor Miranda recessed the meeting to Closed Session at 5:03 p.m. RECONVENE TO OPEN SESSION Mayor Miranda reconvened the meeting to Open Session at 6:03 p.m. CITY ATTORNEY ANNOUNCEMENT City Attorney Joseph Montes announced that no action was taken in Closed Session that was required to be reported. ADJOURN Mayor Miranda adjourned the Special Meeting at 6:03 p.m. ATTEST: CITY CLERK MAYOR Page 2 1
