AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 2.08.100 OF THE SANTA CLARITA MUNICIPAL
CODE CONCERNING CITY MANAGER REMOVAL METHOD AND NOTICE
WHEREAS, the Santa Clarita Municipal Code currently establishes and outlines
guidelines for the office of the City Manager in Section 2.08; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clarita Municipal Code Section 2.08.100 Removal: Method-
Notice reads "the removal of the City Manager shall be effected only by a majority vote of the
whole Council as then constituted, convened in a regular Council meeting;" and
WHEREAS, the City Council conducted an annual performance evaluation for the City
Manager highlighting exemplary performance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council would like to provide assurance and security to the City
Manager of his continued leadership; and
WHEREAS, the City Council would like to demonstrate a vote of confidence in the
current City Manager and the value he brings to the City.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2.08.100 of the Santa Clarita Municipal Code is amended to
read as follows:
"2.08.100 Removal: Method-Notice.
The removal of the City Manager shall be effected only by a 4/5 vote of the whole
Council as then constituted, convened in a regular Council meeting."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause
the same to be published as required by law.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 11th day of January, 2022.

foregoing Ordinance 22-1 was regularly introduced and placed upon its first reading at a regular
meeting of the City Council on the 14th day of December 2021. That thereafter, said ordinance
was duly passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 11 th day of January
2022, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: McLean, Smyth, Gibbs, Miranda, Weste
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
AND I FURTHER CERTIFY that the foregoing is the original of Ordinance No. 22-1
and was published in The Signal newspaper in accordance with State Law (G.C. 40806).
