BACKGROUND
As a result of the recent retirement of Robert Newman, former Public Works Director, who
served as a board representative on the North Los Angeles County Transportation Coalition
(NCTC), appointments to fill his vacancy and the City's alternate to the NCTC are before the
City Council for consideration.
Given the slightly modified governance structure of the NCTC, and the vacancy in Santa
Clarita' s delegation, it is appropriate for the City Council to consider appointing the Director of
Public Works, Mike Hennawy, who currently serves as the City's alternate, as the third board
representative, and appointing the City Engineer, Damon Letz, as the alternate. The

representatives do not have a set term of office, but rather, serve at the pleasure of the City
Council.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION
Other action as directed by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
The resources required to implement the recommended action are contained within the City of
Santa Clarita's adopted FY 2021-22 budget.
