BACKGROUND As a result of the recent retirement of Robert Newman, former Public Works Director, who served as a board representative on the North Los Angeles County Transportation Coalition (NCTC), appointments to fill his vacancy and the City's alternate to the NCTC are before the City Council for consideration. Given the slightly modified governance structure of the NCTC, and the vacancy in Santa Clarita' s delegation, it is appropriate for the City Council to consider appointing the Director of Public Works, Mike Hennawy, who currently serves as the City's alternate, as the third board representative, and appointing the City Engineer, Damon Letz, as the alternate.
