BACKGROUND The League of California Cities (League) is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge, exchange information, and combine resources. The League's objective is to protect and expand local authority for cities through education and advocacy to enhance the quality of life for all Californians. The League Annual Conference is scheduled for September 7-9, 2022, in Long Beach. An important part of the League Annual Conference is the General Assembly Meeting scheduled on Friday, September 9, 2022. At this meeting, the League membership will consider and potentially act on resolutions that establish League policy. In order to vote at the General Assembly Meeting, the City Council is asked to designate a voting delegate. The City Council may also appoint up to two alternate voting delegates, one of whom may vote in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity. Only City Council designated delegates and alternates may vote at the General Assembly Meeting. As part of the annual consideration of City Council Committee Appointments earlier this year, the City Council selected Councilwoman Marsha McLean and Councilmember Cameron Smyth to serve as the delegate and alternate, respectively, to the League of California Cities' Los Angeles County Division. Councilwoman McLean also serves as a Regional Director of the Page 1 Packet Pg. 11 O League of California Cities' Los Angeles County Division for the San Fernando Valley Council of Governments.
