PHASE II - CITY-WIDE DEBRIS REMOVAL CONTRACT

This item is on the agenda for award of Phase H of the City-wide Debris Removal contract.
The program is designed to provide for earthquake -related debris clean-up from the
standpoint of public health and safety. Previously, the California Conservation Corps.
(CCC), as well as Jerry Blackshire/Applied Environmental Management provided for the
service. The Blackshire contract, scheduled to terminate on May 26, 1994 was obtained
through the emergency procurement process, Therefore, verbal quotes from three service
providers were obtained prior to contract award.
Currently City staff has distributed requests for quotations for the continuation of this service
for an additional 30 working day period. Written quotes will delivered to the City on
May 20. Given that these quotes will be delivered after the distribution of the agenda, City
staff will present the outcome of the request to the City Council at their meeting of
May 24, 1994.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
1. Receive staff's report and discuss recommendation for award of debris removal
contract.
2. Pending review by the City Attorney, award contract for debris removal services.
3. Authorize the Director of Finance to authorize payment for debris removal
services from Emergency Account #90-19-935-227.
