HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-09-27 - AGENDA REPORTS - TREE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTAGENDA REPORT CityManager Approval CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: September 27, 1994 Item to be presented by: Rick Putnamr c SUBJECT: SAN FERNANDO ROAD STREET TREE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT PROJECTNO. 99-019 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services BACKGROUND At its meeting of April 26, 1994, the City Council authorized a contract with Green Coast Construction Landscaping, Inc. for street tree planting and irrigation along the easterly side of San Fernando Road. Project funds were obtained through a competitive Caltrans Environmental Enhancement and Mitigation grant (EEM) and the original engineer's estimate was $63,050.00. Green Coast Construction Landscaping, Inc, has completed all project work and has finished the 90 -day landscape establishment period. This project was accepted by the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department on Monday, September 12, 1994 for a total project cost of $60,755.00. RECOMMENDATION 1. That the City Council accept the work performed by Green Coast. Construction Landscaping, Inc. 2, That the City Council direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion for the project, 3. That staff be directed to release the ten percent, (10%) retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed. The contract for furnishing of all plant, labor, services, materials and equipment and all utilities and transportation, including power, fuel and water, and performing all work necessary to construct and complete, in a good and workmanlike manner in strict accordance with the specifications, plans, and drawings therefore on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Clarita; for the construction, installation, and completion of the above described public improvement and work, was heretofore made and entered into with Green Coast Construction Landscaping, Inc. on the 26th of April, 1994, and filed for record in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Clarita: that the work upon said public improvement was actually completed on the 12th day of September, 1994 and that the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services has notified the City Council that he has made and completed a final inspection of the materials furnished and installed and the work performed in the construction, installation and completion of said public improvement hereinabove more particularly described and set forth in. and has certified in writing to the City Council that all of the provisions of the contract and contract documents for the furnishing of all plant, labor, services, materials, and equipment, and the performing of all work necessary for the construction, installation and completion of said public improvement above described have been fully complied with to his satisfaction as required by the contract documents; that final acceptance of the construction, installation and completion of said public improvement above described was made on the 12th day of September, 1994 that the nature of the title to said property improvement in fee except for the right-of-way upon which it is constructed, and that it owns an easement upon, over and along said right-of-way for the purpose of the construction, installation, and completion of said public improvement hereinabove referred to and on which said public improvement is situated is described as follows: SAN FERNANDO STREET TREE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - PHASE II Situated along the MTA right -0f --way on the easterly side of San Fernando Road between 16th Street and approximately 1000 feet north of Drayton Street, in the City of Santa Clarita PROJECT NO. 99-019 PROTECT NO. 99-019 September 27, 1994 - Page 2 American Motorists Insurance Company 7470 N.
