Award a contract to Waterline Technology for pool chemicals, for an initial term of one year, with the option of two additional renewals in an amount not to exceed $85,554.71 annually. 2. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to modify the award in the event issues of impossibility of performance arise, subject to City Attorney approval. Authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney approval, and execute two renewals at an annual cost not to exceed $85,554.71 plus the cost of any Consumer Price Index (CPI) increases. BACKGROUND The City of Santa Clarita operates and programs six aquatic facilities, which include five community pools and the Aquatic Center. In order to safely and legally operate these facilities, various chemicals are required to maintain proper water balance and to meet sanitation standards and requirements. In May 2012, the City Purchasing Division in cooperation with the Recreation Division, issued an Invitation for Bid for the supply of pool chemicals for all City pools. The bid was publicly advertised twice in local papers on May I 1 and May 16. The bid was sent to 40 vendors and placed on Planet Bids. The bid was downloaded by 17 vendors and responded to by four vendors. Purchasing opened bids on Monday, June 11, 2012, with the following results: APPROVED Vendor Location Cost Waterline Technology Inter Valley Pool Supply PVS Minibulk, Inc. Argo Chemical, Inc. Santa Ana $85,554.71 Pomona $96,280.73 Detroit, MI $106,031.25 (partial only) Bakersfield $122.191.94 Of the four bids, three were deemed complete and fully responsive. Staff reviewed all and found Waterline Technology to be the lowest, responsive, completed bid. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT The funds for this expenditure are available in Aquatics Account 15104-5111.001 in Fiscal Year 2012-2013.
