N C PUBLIC PARTICIPATION FOR AGENDIZED ITEMS v Addressing the Council was Tony Maldonado regarding the CVRA matter and Douglas (no last 5; name provided) regarding both matters. a CLOSED SESSION Joseph Montes, City Attorney, announced that the anticipated litigation matter does not involve manufactured housing and the City is a potential defendant; and advised of the need to conduct a Closed Session for the purpose of holding a: CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - EXISTING LITIGATION Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(1) Name of case: Michael Cruz et al. v. City of Santa Clarita LASC Case No. 1STCV47451 CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - ANTICIPATED LITIGATION Significant exposure to litigation pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(2) - one matter RECESS TO CLOSED SESSION - TO BE HELD IN THE CARL BOYER ROOM Mayor Gibbs recessed the meeting to Closed Session at 5:32 p.m. RECONVENE TO OPEN SESSION Mayor Gibbs reconvened the meeting to Open Session at 6:13 p.m. CITY ATTORNEY ANNOUNCEMENT City Attorney Joe Montes announced that pursuant to the terms of the settlement agreement in the Cruz v. Santa Clarita matter, the City will be holding public hearings in order to establish district maps for Council elections. The schedule of hearings will be posted on the City's website tomorrow, February 15, along with information about how the public can participate in the process. The first hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 1, at the Newhall Community Packet Pg. 10 O Center and a demographer will be present to explain mapping restrictions, as well as to explain and introduce a mapping tool that members of the public can use to submit their own maps for the Council's consideration.
