CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT NEW BUSINESS CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: TA 4¢„� _� DATE: September 12, 2023 SUBJECT: NOMINATION TO THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ON HOMELESSNESS DEPARTMENT: City Manager's Office PRESENTER: Masis Hagobian RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council discuss and recommend a member of the City Council to serve on the Los Angeles County Executive Committee on Homelessness. BACKGROUND The Los Angeles County Executive Committee on Homelessness (Executive Committee) was recently established through a motion by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (Board of Supervisors) and is intended to develop a countywide plan to address homelessness. Forming an Executive Committee on Homelessness was one of seven recommendations developed by the Los Angeles County Blue -Ribbon Commission on Homelessness. The City Council supported all seven recommendations as they were being considered for adoption by the Board of Supervisors last year. All seven recommendations were adopted by the Board of Supervisors on May 3, 2022. As prescribed by the motion, the Executive Committee consists of nine board members, which includes two board members from the Board of Supervisors, appointed by the Chair of the Board of Supervisors; Mayor of the City of Los Angeles; a Councilmember from the City of Los Angeles, appointed by the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles; four sub -regional representatives, representing the North County/San Fernando Valley sector, Southwest Corridor sector, San Gabriel Valley sector, and Southeast sector and each of whom must be a Mayor or Councilmember of a City within the sector they are representing; and a representative appointed by the Governor. Each sub -regional representative must be nominated by their Los Angeles County City Selection Committee sub -region and ratified by the Los Angeles County City Selection Committee. The Los Angeles County City Selection Committee plans to hold meetings in fall 2023 to appoint the four sub -regional representatives.
