Joint Study Session
Tuesday, September 23, 2025
Call to Order: Mayor Miranda called the Study Session to order at 5:05 p.m.
Roll Call
Council: All Councilmembers were present.
Arts Commission: All Commissioners were present, with the exception of
Commissioner Seratti.
ITEM I ARTS MASTER PLAN CULMINATION REPORT - Arts and Events
Manager Phil Lantis provided a review of the Culmination Report including the
status of the 61 recommendations contained in the Arts Master Plan.
ITEM 2 2026 ARTS COMMISSION PUBLIC ART REPORT - Arts and Events
Administrator Jennifer Shadle provided information on the 2026 Arts
Commission Public Art Report.
Commissioners provided comments, which included appreciation for support of
the Arts Master Plan; art selection; additional performing arts venues; and
development of the 2035 Arts Master Plan.
Council commented on the Newhall Auditorium and the need for comfortable
seating and additional programming; ideas for the next big project, including new
venues; the positive impact of the City's art grants; and including the Council on
opinions for new ideas.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
No requests to speak were received.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Miranda adjourned the Study Session at 5:55 p.m.
