Ratify payments in the amount of $86,881 to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Santa Clarita Dodger Day tickets. 2. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, ongoing authority to purchase Santa Clarita Dodger Day tickets in future fiscal years as necessary to accommodate annual ticket pricing increases and Santa Clarita Dodger Day program demand. BACKGROUND Santa Clarita Dodger Day is the City of Santa Clarita's longest -running community event and one that residents eagerly anticipate each year. The 47th annual Santa Clarita Dodger Day is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Dodger Stadium as the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Los Angeles Angels. Since its inception in 1978, Santa Clarita Dodger Day has provided residents with an opportunity to enjoy a family -friendly outing while fostering community pride and engagement. The event continues to be highly popular among residents and regularly sells out shortly after tickets become available for purchase. Over the past four years, ticket prices for Santa Clarita Dodger Day have increased by $20 for the least expensive ticket and $28 for the most expensive ticket. This is due to overall economic conditions, rising operational costs, and increased demand associated with the Los Angeles Dodgers' recent success, including back-to-back World Series championships. In addition, resident participation and the total number of tickets purchased for the event have steadily Page 1 Packet Pg. 124 increased over the past four years, with ticket purchases growing from 451 tickets in 2023 to 841 tickets in 2026. The revenue received from ticket sales fully covers the expenditure to purchase tickets from the Los Angeles Dodgers. For the upcoming event, staff made payments in the amount of $86,881 to avoid the release of reserved seats due to a payment deadline established by the Los Angeles Dodgers; the recommended action will allow for ratification of these purchases. Additionally, staff further recommends authorizing the City Manager, or designee, ongoing authority to purchase Santa Clarita Dodger Day tickets in future fiscal years. Providing continued authorization will allow the City to respond to annual fluctuations in ticket pricing and availability, and preserve the City's ability to secure sufficient ticket inventory to meet program demand. ALTERNATIVE ACTION Other action as determined by City Council. FISCAL IMPACT The cost associated with ticket purchases is offset through resident ticket sales, with participants covering the cost of their individual ticket packages. Any unsold tickets will be returned to and refunded by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Page 2 Packet Pg. 125
