ORDINANCE NO. 87-7
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA
PRESCRIBING IMPRISONMENT IDI THE COUNTY
0^ JAIL FOR VIOLATIONS OF CITY ORDINANCES
AND DECLARING THIS ORDINANCE TO BE AN
URGENCY MEASURE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Under Section 36903 of the Government
Code, imprisonment in the County jail is prescribed as the
place for imprisonment for each violation of a City
Ordinance, unless the County jail is so designated by the
City Council.
Section 2. This Ordinance is declared to be an
urgency Ordinance to take effect immediately, and is for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety
and welfare. The facts constituting the urgency are that
the City of Santa Clarita is newly incorporated and has no
jail facilities and provision must be made immediately for a
place of imprisonment for persons violating City Ordinances.
Section 3. This Ordinance becomes effective
immediately.
Section 4. Within fifteen (15) days after the
passage of this Ordinance, the City Clerk shall cause it to
be posted in the three (3) public places designated by
resolution of the City Council and thereafter shall certify
to such posting.

The foregoing ordinance was introduced, adopted and
ordered posted at a meeting of the City Council held on
December 15, 1987.
