HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-12-19 - RESOLUTIONS - SPHERE INFLUENCE BOUNDARIES (2)RESOLUTION NO. 87-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita wishes to initiate proceedings pursuant to Section 56428 under the Cortese -Knox Local Government Reorganization Act of 1985, to revise its sphere of influence to include territories adjacent to the southern boundaries of the City, and including areas commonly referred to as Elsmere Canyon; and WHEREAS, the City territories adjoining the areas proposed for the sphere of influence expansion are currently designated residential minimun density, agricultural and for quasi public uses; and geographical practice intrequestsngothateayspsoundhere of influence be divided at the ridge lines between the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys; and WHEREAS, the inclusion of these territories within the sphere of influence of the City of Santa Clarita is logical because of the City's concern about their future development. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that by adoption of this resolution the City of Santa Clarita Council hereby requests the Local Formation Commission (LAFCO) to initiate proceedings to include within the sphere of influence of the City of Santa Clarita the territories known as Elsmere Canyon in the manner provided by the Cortese -Knox Local Government Reorganization Act of 1985. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted by the City Council of Santa Clarita at its meeting Of December 19, 1987.
