AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CABLE TELEVISION
�-^ SYSTEM FRANCHISE GRANTED TO KING VIDEOCABLE
COMPANY-NEWHALL
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council finds and determines:
(a) Ordinance No. 87-0169F was adopted by the Los
Angeles County Board of Supervisors on September 29, 1987
granting a cable television franchise to King Videocable-Newhall
for the purpose of establishing and operating a cable television
system in the then unincorporated area of Canyon Country.
(b) The City of Santa Clarita was incorporated on
December 15, 1987 and upon incorporation assumed all rights and
responsibilities under the franchise from the County.
(c) Because the franchise granted to King Videocable
Company -Newhall by the County of Los Angeles currently covers two
separate areas and because one of those areas is now the
incorporated City of Santa Clarita, the franchise ordinance must
be amended to clarify the franchisee's responsibilities to each
separate jurisdiction.
(d) It is the purpose of this ordinance, and a similar
ordinance to be concurrently.adopted by the County of Los
Angeles, to amend and clarify the franchise ordinance so as to
reflect the new circumstances, being that the franchisee operates
in part of the City of Santa Clarita and part of an
unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.
Section 2. Ordinance No. 87-0169F, previously adopted
Dy the City of Santa Clarita is hereby readopted and amended as
follows:
(a) Sub -paragraph a.2 is added to Section.5 of
Ordinance No. 87-0169f entitled "An Ordinance Granting a Cable
Television System Franchise to King Videocable Company -Newhall",
adopted September 29, 1987 to read:
"a.2. Beginning thirty (30) days after adoption of this
amending ordinance, the franchisee shall pay monthly directly to
the City of Santa Clarita $7,400, said fee to be applied to the
franchise fee as provided in sub -paragraph b infra."
(b) Sub -paragraph b.l is added to Section 5 of
Ordinance No. 87-0169f entitled "An Ordinance Granting a Cable
Television System Franchise to King Videocable Company -Newhall",
adopted September 29, 1987 to read:
"b.l. Annually the franchisee shall pay the percentage
fee of five percent (5a) of its gross revenues earned within the
City by the amount it exceeds the total minimum monthly fee paid
to the City during the franchise payment period.

2 to this ordinance are not intended to increase the franchise
fee as required of King Videocable pursuant to Los Angeles County

Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance and cause it to be published in the manner
prescribed by law.
