HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-07-14 - ORDINANCES - PARKS RECREATION (2)ORDINANCE NO. 88-31 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING CHAPTER 2.19 TO TITLE 2 RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Municipal Code for the City of Santa Clarita is hereby amended by adding Chapter 2.19 to Title 2 to read as follows: Chapter 2.19 DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION Sections: 2.19.10 Department of Parks and Recreation 2.19.20 Office Established 2.19.30 Powers and Duties Section 2.19.10. Department of Parks and Recreation There is hereby created and established a Department of Parks and Recreation which shall consist of such personnel as may be authorized by the City Council and comprised of the following divisions: (a) Division of Parks. The Division of Parks shall be responsible for theioperation and maintenance of all City park facilities and landscaped traffic medians within the City. (b) Division of Recreation. The Division of Recreation shall be responsible -, for providing and supervising all recreational activities within the City. Section 2.19.20. Office Established ' There is hereby establishedthe position of Director of Parks and Recreation. Section 2.19.30. Powers and Duties The Parks and Recreation Director shall be the head of the Department of Parks and Recreation and shall be responsible for the performance of the following duties: ., (a) Be the administrative head of the Department of Parks and Recreation and shall have direct charge of and responsibility for all City personnel and equipment assigned to the department. (b) Establish and maintain an organizational structure capable of performing the services assigned to the department by the City Manager and/or the City Council. (c) Compile an annual budget estimate for the City Manager. (d) Advise and assist the City Council and the City Manager on all matters relating to the Parks and Recreation function of the City. (e) Investigate and enforce ordinances and regulations having specific application to Parks and Recreation or as may from time to time be assigned to the Parks and Recreation Director by the City Manager. r" (f) Perform such other duties as the City Manager may from time to time assign. Section 2. The provisions of Section 1 of this ordinance specifically supersede the Los Angeles County Code at Title 2, Chapter 2.26 regarding a County Department of Parks and Recreation. Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify as to the passage of this ordinance and cause it to be posted as required by law. PASSED, APPROVED AND APPROVED THIS 14th day of July 1988.
