A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA CLARITA ESTABLISHING A
COMPENSATION PLAN AND METHOD OF APPLICATION
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a Resolution expressing
a personnel policy; and
WHEREAS, Section one of Resolution No. 88-8 states that a compensation
plan will be developed and maintained as the basis for an equitable
and adequate compensation for all employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA CLARITA THAT:
Section 1: The City of Santa Clarita compensation plan shall
consist of such salary ranges as may from time to time be assigned
by Council resolution.
Section 2: Each salary range on the compensation plan shall
be composed of five individual steps with each step representing
a five percent differential from over the preceding step. Each even
numbered range shall differ from the preceding even numbered range
by five percent.
Secton 3: The "A" step shall be the usual entering salary step.
The first six months of employment is the probationary period of
employment. Upon the successful completion of the probationary period,
an employee will automatically be promoted to the "B" step.
Section 4: At the conclusion of the second six month period
of employment, an employee shall be entitled to a promotion to Step
I.C".
Section 5: After reaching Step "C", a promotion to step "D"
and then to Step "E" requires first a year in each step plus a positive
employee evaluation report and a recommendation of the department
head before a promotion can become effective.
Section 6: The compensation plan for the City of Santa Clarita
shall be based upon the attached ranges and steps.
