CITY OF SANTA CLARITA
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
FEES AND CHARGES POLICY
fes,
A system of fees and charges enables
City Department of Parks and
recreation to offer recreation
opportunities in addition to those
?rovided through general .tax funding.
The City of Santa Clarita City Council
s approved fees and charges for certain
ecialized services and facilities
provided to the general public through the
City Department of parks and Recreation.
These flees and charges are designed to
make the specialized services and
facilities partially or completely
self-sustaining; that is, the people who
enjoy these services and facilities will
be contributing to the cost of providing
them, thereby decreasing the demand on the
general public for tax funds to provide
for recreation opportunities designed to
meet special needs. The fees are not
Intended to create a profit which might be
used to pay for other specialized recreat-
ion facilities or services provided free
charge. Income from this system of
es and charges will be used only to
jF )vide the services and facilities from
...rich such income is derived.
The basic services of the City
Department of Parks and Recreation
continue to be available at no direct
charge to the user. Most of the City
parklands and open space areas, as well as
many popular recreation programs, are
operated and maintained for the benefit of
the general public through appropriation
of City tax revenue. A system of fees and
charges allows for continuation or
establishment of services meeting
specialized needs, without a diversion of
taxrevenues from the basic, general
responsibilities of the Department of
srks and Recreation.
Our fees and charges policy gives
nsideration to: senior citizens, disabled
persons, and non-profit, community serving
organizations that might otherwise be
unable to enjoy parks and recreation
`rvices for which fees are required.
., ,duced rates for senior citizens and
sabI ed persons are Identif led where
applicable in the following Schedule of
Fees and Charges. Non-profit, community
serving organizations will not be charged
for rental of facilities when their use
can be accommodated without requiring
