RESOLUTION NO. 88-127
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA IN CONNECTION
DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS ON THE PERIPHERY
OF SANTA CLARITA

WHEREAS, significant development proposals are
regularly considered by the County of Los Angeles involving
property outside the City limits but within the Santa
Clarita Valley; and
WHEREAS, many such significant development
proposals have the potential to cause adverse environmental
consequences to the City and its inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, no systematic review mechanism has been
developed to assure that the City will have an opportunity
to review and comment upon such significant development
proposals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that it is hereby
declared to be the policy of the City of Santa Clarita that:
SECTION 1. The City shall request from the County
of Los -Angeles transmittal of development plans and
environmental documentation involving any development
project proposed within the unincorporated Santa Clarita
Valley when:
- the proposed project, if residential,
exceeds 20 dwelling units; or
- the proposed project, if
commercial/industrial, exceeds 20,000
square feet gross floor area; or
- the proposed project involves an amendment
to the existing general plan or a revision
to an adopted specific plan.
SECTION 2. In its review of said development plans
and environmental documents, the City shall determine to its
satisfaction that the potential environmental impacts of a
proposed project have been adequately identified and that
measures proposed to mitigate identified impacts are
sufficient and appropriate. Where potential environmental
impacts have been inadequately identified or mitigation
measures are determined by the City to be insufficient or

inappropriate, such will be communicated to the County and
applicants for development approval;
SECTION 3. That representation of the Council's
position concerning development proposals on the City's
periphery shall be made only through a means and/or persons
authorized by a majority of the Council.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 25th day of
August, 1988.

duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Santa
Clarita at a regularly scheduled meeting thereof, held on
the 25th day of August, 1988 by the following vote of the
Council:
