HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-03-14 - RESOLUTIONS - SAUGUS REHAB SITE SALE (2)RESOLUTION NO. 89-31 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA REQUESTING THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES TO OPEN FORMAL NEGOTIATIONS REGARDING THE SALE OF THE APPROXIMATELY 520 ACRE SAUGUS ALCOHOL REHABILITATION SITE WHEREAS, The Saugus Alcohol Rehabilitation Site is located within the City of Santa Clarita, and is owned by the City of Los Angeles; WHEREAS, it is one of the City of Santa Clarita's highest priorities to acquire an interest in the Saugus Alcohol Rehabilitation Site; WHEREAS, it is anticipated by the City of Santa Clarita that the Saugus Alcohol Rehabilitation Site may be utilized for open space, park, Civic Center, and water agency uses, all of which are beneficial to the public good; WHEREAS, the City has previously made informal contact with the City of Los Angeles and the Castaic Lake Water Agency; and WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to encourage the City of Los Angeles to begin formal negotiations regarding the site. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita, California does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That the City of Santa Clarita is prepared to begin formal negotiations to purchase the Saugus Alcohol Rehabilitation Site and the City Council of the City of Los Angeles is requested to open such negotiations. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the City Council of the City of Los Angeles. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
