SITE APPLICATION & RESOLUTION
On November 7, 1990, the City Council authorized staff to prepare a site
application and resolution identifying the Bermite area as the primary location
for the City's first commuter rail station. The resolution and site application
are needed to increase the City's chances of receiving State Transportation
Capital Improvement (TCI) funds, and submittal of these documents does not
necessarily commit the City to the Bermite site.
Recent negotiations between the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission
(LACTC) and the Southern Pacific Transportation Company (SPTC) has resulted in
certain circumstances which may impact selection of the Bermite area as a
station site. Staff will be meeting with LACTC staff to obtain all the
necessary information for preparing a recommendation to Council.
Additionally, LACTC has informed staff that because of the latest developments
in negotiations the due date to submit the resolution and site application has
been extended to January 1991.
RECOMMENDATION
Receive and file.
