SUBJECT: Contract for Crossing Guard Service

BACKGROUND

The City of Santa Clarita, in need of .procuring adult crossing guard services
during the 1990-91 school year for elementary schools located within the City of
Santa Clarita boundaries, advertised and requested sealed bids from potential
contracts with a bid opening of Thursday, July 26, 1990, at 11:00 a.m, for bid
DOGS -90-91-02. Four bids were received from the following vendors.
Protector Services Corporation
Coleman Security Services, Inc
All City Management Company
Copper Eagle Patrol & Security
$9.60/hour - $9.60/hour OT
$9.65/hour - $9.65/hour OT
$9.70/hour - $14.55/hour OT
$10.00/hour- $10.00/hour OT
Staff reviewed the bid responses and contacted references supplied by all
bidders. Protector Services Corporation who has provided crossing guard
services for the City of Santa Clarita in 1988-89, East Whittier City School
District (1985 -present), and entire County of Los Angeles Office of Education
(1987 -present) provided the lowest fixed hourly rate along with meeting all of
the requirements identified in bid #GS -90-91-02.
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize staff to award the 1990-91 adult crossing guard services contract to
Protector Services Corporation, the lowest qualified bidder for the period of
September, 1990 through August, 1991.
