Item to be presented by:
Andrea Daroca
SUBJECT: Contract for Crossing Guard Service
DEPARTMENT: Finance/General Services 19P
BACKGROUND
The City of Santa Clarita presently has a contract agreement with Coleman
Security Services, Inc. to provide crossing guard service from September 1,
1989, until June 30, 1990. It was the City's intention to go out to bid for
these services in July 1990 for the next school year. However, Charles Stalter,
vice president, chief operations officer, with Coleman Security contacted the
City's General Services Manager and suggested that the City extend the contract
to include the summer to take care of the limited demand of six schools which
will have children crossing busy intersections.
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize staff to amend the existing crossing guard contract through the summer
until August 31, 1990, and carry over the necessary funding into the next fiscal
year which is still available in fiscal year 1989-90 budget. Staff will then
bid for crossing guard services for September 1, 1990 through September 1, 1991.
