The Valencia Company completed the improvements for a four lane roadway on
Decoro Drive from the extension of McBean Parkway at Newhall Ranch Road to the
westerly boundary of the City in the vicinity of Vista Delgado Drive and opened
it to traffic in December, 1989, connecting it to a two lane roadway within the
City.
On November 14, 1989, City Council approved funds for the portion of Decoro
Drive within the City between Vista Delgado Drive to Seco Canyon Road, and
authorized the preparation of plans and specifications. The complexity of the
bridge widening at the existing flood control channel and added time needed for
approval by other agencies, warranted that the project was designed in two
phases in order to proceed with necessary improvements to minimize conflict with
school activity.
Phase I consists of the construction of widening on the north side of Decoro
Drive from approximately 50 feet east of the existing structure at the flood
control channel to Seco Canyon Road. Phase I will allow construction to occur
during the summer when school is out. This will eliminate construction
distraction while school is in session, in particular, because a portion of the
construction for a new driveway is within the school grounds.
Phase II consists of the construction of the bridge widening and construction of
improvements joining .the improvementsto the west of the channel. Advertising
for construction of Phase II is scheduled for late August or early September,
1990.
The Valencia Company.has agreed to contribute $500,000 towards the cost of the
project and has advanced a portion of this amount towards the cost of the design
and for the installation of a traffic signal system at Vista Delgado Drive and
Decoro Drive. The project cost, including right-of-way, estimated=at $802,000
is budgeted in fiscal year 1989-90, in Account Number 25-96029-227.
The Plans and Specifications for this project are available for review in the
City Clerk's and the Director of Public Works' Office.
Approve the Plans and Specifications for Phase I, set July 5, 1990 for bid
opening, and authorize the advertising for bids for the construction of Phase I
widening of the north side of Decoro DAPPR
