HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-05-29 - AGENDA REPORTS - FLEET EQUIPMENT PURCHASE (2)AGENDA REPORT r City Manager Approval Item to be presented by: CONSENT CALENDAR Andrea Daroca DATE: May 29, 1990 SUBJECT: Purchase of Fleet Equipment DEPARTMENT: Finance 0 BACKGROUND The City of Santa Clarita, in need of one (1) heavy duty diesel tractor loader and two (2) triplex riding mowers advertised and requested sealed bids from potential suppliers with bid openings of May 10 and May 21, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. for bids GS -89-90-08 and GS -89-90-11. The following bids were received from potential suppliers for the respective bids: GS -89-90-08 Equipment Center - $23,479.65 Valley Ford Tractor $25,509.87. So. Cal. Ford Tractor $27,697.36 GS -89-90-11 Pacific Equipment Co. $16,007.16, San Diego Turf $17,696.25 West Star Distributing $18,309.00 All equipment bid was included in this year's 1989-90 budget. Since Equipment Center, the lowest bidder, did not meet the City's specifications but insisted they could do the job with a Case tractor loader, the City's Parks Division requested a demonstration from both Equipment Center and Valley Ford Tractor, the two low bidders in GS -89-90-08. The Case tractor loader could not perform at the level of the Ford tractor loader. Pacific Equipment Company, provider of the two (2) triplex riding mowers, met all specifications required in Bid GS -897-90-11 and was low bidder. RECOMMENDATION That City Council award the bid to Valley Ford Tractor for the one heavy duty diesel tractor loader because the low bidder, Equipment Center, did not meet specifications identified in Bid GS -89-90-08. Also, that staff be directed to purchase the two triplex riding mowers from Pacific Equipment Company who was low bidder and met all specifications identified in Bid GS -89-90-11.
