BACKGROUND
At.the June 26, 1990, Council meeting a contract was awarded to T & D Electric
for relighting North Oaks Park in the amount of $31,000. Subsequent. to the
award City staff worked with the contractor to put together all the contract
documents for execution. All of the documents were forthcoming except the State
mandated prevailing wage requirements. Vhen reviewing the RFP, City staff
recognized that no mention of this requirement was made; and, of course, no
contract can be executed without the prevailing wage requirement. The City
Attorney has advised staff that this is a very substantial change in the
specifications requiring the City to rebid the project with proper notice of
prevailing wage requirements. Therefore, staff is requesting that the award of
bid to T & D Electric be. rejected, and that staff be authorized to rebid the
project.
FISCAL IMPACT
The rebidding of this project will most likely result in more than the $36,000
cost already encumbered for this project. However,adequate funds are available
in account 125-99003227 to fund the anticipated increase for prevailing wage
rates for the project.
It is recommended that the City Council review this report and reject the award
of the North Oaks Park relighting project.
