the local Chevrolet dealer, for only bid #GS -89-90-13 and 14 for a total price
of $105,016.15. Five other dealers were sent bids but did not respond.
As a result of only receiving one bid which was not complete, the City
re -advertised and requested sealed bids from potential suppliers with a bid

A third dealer appeared at City Hall unfortunately too late to be included in
the bid process.
These vehicles were included in the 1989-90 budget for the Parks & Recreation
Department in account #01-9200-405. With new staff starting in the next few
weeks, the acquisition of these vehicles is most urgent.
RECOMMENDATION
That staff be directed to purchase the budgeted and approved fleet vehicles for
the Parks & Recreation Department from Scott Irvin Chevrolet for bid
#GS -89-90-18. Scott Irvin was the most qualified lowest bidder when
consideration is given to a local vendor to keep the 1% sales tax within the
City of Santa Clarita. Authorization is also requested for staff to award bid
#GS -89-90-16, 17, 19 to GMC Truck Division in Santa Fe Springs, California, who
was the most qualified lowest bidder for these bids.
