A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, MAKING FINDINGS
REGARDING WRITTEN PROTESTS FILED AND ORDERING THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY
DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION NO. 1988-01" TO THE
CITY OF SANTA CLARITA SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION BY
THE VOTERS, AND CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, the Local Agency Formation Commission of the County of
Los Angeles adopted Resolution 1990-11, making determinations and approving
proposed Annexation No. 1988-01 to the City of Santa Clarita; and
WHEREAS, the Local Agency Formation Commission of the County of
Los Angeles has directed the City of Santa Clarita to proceed with the
annexation following a duly noticed public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk set Tuesday, February 13, 1990, at 6:30 p.m.,
in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 23920 Valencia Boulevard, 1st Floor,
Santa Clarita, California, as the date, time, and place for said hearing on
the proposed annexation and the owners of land within the said territory were
duly informed of their right to file written protests against the annexation
with the City Clerk at any time prior to the conclusion of the hearing on the
proposed annexation; and
WHEREAS, the public hearing was duly and regularly conducted by and
before the City Council at its meeting of February 13, 1990.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Clarita, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Clarita does
hereby find, determine, and declare as follows:
A. This Resolution is adopted pursuant to Government Code
Section 57075.5.
B. The type of change of organization being acted on is an
annexation of territory.
C. The territory is found to be

D. The Local Agency Formation Commission approved this proposed
Annexation No. 1988-01, subject to the terms and conditions specified in the
Local Agency Formation Commission Resolution No. 1990-11 on January 10, 1990
as set forth in Exhibit C, attached hereto and made a part hereof.
E. The reasons for this Annexation No. 1988-01 are to square up
and extend the City's boundaries to comply with the property owner requests
for municipal services and local representation and to promote sound planning
and land use practices in the affected territory.
F. The regular County assessment roll is utilized by this City.
G. The affected territory will not be taxed for existing bonded
indebtedness of this City.
SECTION 2. In accordance with Government Code Section 57075.5(b),
the City Council hereby finds the following regarding written protests filed
and not withdrawn by registered voters and owners of land at or prior to the
conclusion of the public hearing: .
Number of registered voters - 3,607
Number of registered voters filing, and not
withdrawing, valid written protests - 761

SECTION 3. The City Council hereby orders the territory described
in Exhibits A and B annexed subject to confirmation by the voters on the
question and directs the City Clerk to transmit eight (8) certified copies of
this Resolution No. 90-126 to the Executive Officer of the Local Agency
Formation Commission of Los Angeles County.
SECTION 4. That a special election is hereby called to be held on
November 6, 1990, at which election Annexation No. 1988-01 shall be submitted
to the voters residing within such territory.
SECTION 5. The question to be submitted to the voters residing
within such territory shall be the following:
"Shall the May 22, 1990 action of the Santa
Clarita City Council allowing annexation of the
area known as Pinetree/Timberline/LeHouse be
confirmed?"

SECTION 6. That the vote required for confirmation of the order of
annexation is a majority vote.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall fix and publish notice of the
date after which no arguments for or against the measure may be submitted for
printing and distribution to the voters.
SECTION 8. That the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is
hereby requested to consolidate the City of Santa Clarita special election
with the State-wide Direct General Election to be held on November 6, 1990, to
be conducted by the County Clerk and that the Board further be requested and
authorized to canvass or cause to be canvassed the returns of Annexation
No. 1988-01 in the City of Santa Clarita and to certify the results of the
canvass of the returns to the City Council of the City. The City shall pay
the reasonable cost of such services performed by the County Clerk
SECTION 9. That the City Clerk shall cause notice of the election
to be given as prescribed by law.
SECTION 10. Resolution No. 90-88 is hereby repealed.
SECTION 11. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.

being an angle point in the boundary of the City of Santa Clarita as same
existed on September 10, 1989; thence northerly along section line to the
southwest corner of Section 12, said township and range; thence easterly
along section line to the west line of the east half of said Section 12;
