HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-08-14 - RESOLUTIONS - CA HEALTHY CITIES PROJ (2)f,7*d91194IFUs) �itG7tl0s 1.Y1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ^ OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE CALIFORNIA HEALTHY CITIES PROJECT FOR THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY OPEN SPACE PRESERVATION AND SANTA CLARA RIVER DEVELOPMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, the Western Consortium for Public Health has initiated the California Healthy Cities Project to contribute to the quality of life in cities and ultimately the health status of its residents; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clarita has established a high priority for the improvement and preservation of a high quality of life for its residents; and WHEREAS, the preservation of open space and the enhancement and development of the Santa Clara River for recreational use is a high priority for the City; and WHEREAS, the California Healthy Cities Project offers the City an opportunity to become involved in a new, international public health movement among cities and the distinction of being only one of ten selected in California for official recognition; and WHEREAS, the California Healthy Cities Project provides assistance in identifying external sources of funds and program resources for projects such as ^ the Santa Clara River Study and Recreation Features Development Program and preservation of open space; and WHEREAS, on site technical assistance for the City's project is provided by the California Healthy Cities Project; and WHEREAS, the application project for the California Healthy Cities Project requires that the governing body of the municipality indicate support for the application for participation in the California Healthy Cities Project. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council hereby: 1. Approves the filing of an application for participation in the California Healthy Cities project; and 2. Certifies that said agency has or will have sufficient funds to operate and maintain the project funded under this program; and 3. Appoints the City Manager as the agent of the City of Santa Clarita to conduct all negotiations and execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests, and so on, that may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project.
