SUBJECT: RESOLUTION OF CONSENT FOR GRANT APPLICATION UNDER
CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE PROTECTION ACT 1990
RESOLUTION NUMBER 91-206
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
BACKGROUND
The Proposition 117 Initiative established a Local' Agency Program for
competitive grants in the amount of two million dollars ($2,000,000) annually
from July 1, 1990 to July- 1, 2020. This program is administered by the
California State Department of Parks and Recreation.
Our City is eligible to apply for these grant funds for use in the 'Santa Clara
River Corridor. The funds can be requested for several categories of
acquisition and development projects which apply to the Santa Clara River.
Application for these funds will be.an annual occurrence with the fund request
category being updated to reflect our current needs for the.River Corridor.
It is recommended that the City Council approve Resolution No. 91-206 supporting
the -California Wildlife Protection Act Grant Application.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA`:
APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT
FUNDS FOR THE LOCAL AGENCY GRANT PROGRAM
FISCAL YEAR 1991 UNDER THE HABITAT CONSERVATION FUND
PROGRAM OF THE CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE PROTECTION ACT OF 1990
FOR THE FOLLOWING PROJECT.
SANTA CLARA RIVER CORRIDOR
WHEREAS," the people of the State of California have, enacted the
California Wildlife Protection Act of 1990, which provides funds to the State
of California for grants .to local agencies to .acquire and/or develop
facilities for public recreational and fish and wildlife habitat protection
purposes; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation has been delegated
the responsibility for the administration of a portion of the program within
the State, setting up necessary procedures .governing application by local
agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State Department of Parks and
Recreation require the applicant to certify by resolution the 'approval of
application before submission of said application to the State; and
WHEREAS said application contain assurances that the applicant must
comply with; and
WHEREAS, the applicant will enter into an. agreement with: the State of
California for acquisition or development of the project;
NOV, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Santa Clarita City Council hereby:
SECTION 1. Approves the. filing of an application for the Habitat
Conservation Fund Grant Program under the California Wildlife Protection Act
of 1990 State grant assistance for the above -project; and
SECTION 2.Certifies that said applicant understands the assurances and
certification in the application form; and
SECTION 3. Certifies that said. applicant has or will have available
prior to commencement of any work on the project included in this application,
the required match; and will have sufficient funds to operate and maintain the
project; and
SECTION 4. Appoints Deputy City Manager, Parks and Recreation, Mr. Jeff
Kolin, as agent of the City of Santa Clarita to conduct all negotiations,
esecute'and submit all documents, including, but not limited to applications,
agreements, amendments, payment requests and so on,. which may be necessary for
the completion of the aforementioned project.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
