Medina DATE: January 29, 1991 SUBJECT: COUNTY LIGHTING MAINTENANCE DISTRICT CONSENT AND JURISDICTION Resolution Number: 91-9 Resolution Num er: 91-10 DEPARTMENT: Public Works imj BACKGROUND This item is for the Council to consider granting consent and jurisdiction to the County Lighting Maintenance District to annex territory located in the City to the District. As development occurs throughout the City, the installation of street lights is required. The developer is required to pay the cost of installing the lights and the cost of energy and maintenance until the area is annexed into a lighting maintenance district. The County's Lighting Maintenance District was established to provide for the cost of this maintenance. The lights, once installed, are owned by the Southern California Edison Company. Each year they charge the District for the cost of energy and maintenance. The District then assesses their costs against the property owners within the District. There is no.fiscal impact to the City in granting their consent. The City Council adopt the resolution granting consent and jurisdiction to the County of Los Angeles in the matter of Projects 228-87 and 315-117. Direct the City Clerk to have the copies executed and return two originals to the Los Angeles County Street Lighting Department. SECTION -III That this City Council hereby finds and determines that the land included within the boundary of the proposed annexation lying within the boundary of the City of Santa Clarita, will be benefited by the said proposed annexations, and hereby consents to the inclusion of said lands within the proposed annexation and to the assessment thereof. SECTION IV That the consent of this City is hereby given to the commencement of the proceedings for said annexation to County Lighting Maintenance District 1867 and County Lighting District LLA -1 by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, and to the exercise of exclusive jurisdiction of said Board of Supervisors over all proceedings necessary thereto for the purpose of consummating the same, all in accordance with the provisions of Divisions 7 and 15 of the Streets and Highways Code.
