At their.January 8, 1991 regular meeting the Council approved staffs
recommendation to purchase 13 buses from the Gillig Corporation.for the Santa
Clarita local transit system. Additionally, the City will be purchasing nine
commuter buses through the LACTC.
The Council's general consensus at the January 8, 1991 meeting was to use the
red on white paint pattern featured in the "Spirit" publicity photo.
Subsequently, Demerjian Design was hired to create the City's transit logo. The
logo is to be used on the local and commuter buses the dial -a -ride vans and
other transit related materials.
At the March 6, 1991 Study Session, the Council selected one of three logos
submitted to be modified and brought back to Council for final approval.
As you will recall from the March 6, 1991 presentation, the logo has a two fold
purpose, first, to give the City's Transit System an "identity" which expresses
Santa Clarita Transits commitment to provide dependable and professional
service, second, easily identifiable when seen daily by thousands of commuters
traveling in their cars to downtown Los Angeles. The logo will represent Santa
Clarita Transit as well as the image of the City.
The design consultant will present her modification of the logo design selected
by the Council tonight.
Approve the final logo transit design.
