Increased Compensation Parks and Recreation and Planning
Commission
Ordinance Number: 91-30 & 91-31
City Manager
This item is on the agenda for potential compensation increase for the Parks and
Recreation and Planning Commission. This is the first potential increase.since
both commissions formed. Presently the Planning Commission receives
compensation at the rate of $100.00 per meeting attended. Total compensation
cannot exceed $200.00 in one month. The Parks and Recreation Commission
receives compensation at a rate of $70.00 for each member and total compensation
cannot exceed $140.00 per month.
At this time there is not a statutory provision which sets forth the amount of
increase to be paid to a Commissioner. Therefore, anycompensation provided is
at the.City Council's discretion. Suggested options available to the City
Council at this time are as follows:
In order to provide for increased compensation it is necessary to amend both
Ordinance 89-23 and 89-26 which initially set forth compensation for the
Planning and Parks and Recreation Commission. The compensation and expenses
section of the Ordinances shall be amended to include appropriate dollar amounts
adopted_by the City Council.
