Honorable Mayor and City Cot
George Caravalho, City Mana@
DATE: March 6, 1991
SUBJECT: Santa Clarita Transit Logo
At their January 8, 1991 regular meeting the Council approved staffs
recommendation to purchase 13 buses from the Gillig Corporation for the Santa
Clarita local transit system. Additionally, the City will be purchasing nine
commuter buses through the LACTC.
The Council's general consensus at the January 8, 1991 meeting was to use the
red on white paint pattern featured in the "Spirit" publicity photo.
Subsequently, Demerjian Design was hired to create the City's transit logo.
The logo is'to be used on the local and commuter buses the dial -a -ride vans
and other transit related materials.
The logo has a two fold purpose: first it is to give the City's Transit System
an "identity" which expresses Santa Clarita Transits commitment to provide a
dependable and professional service. Second, the logo on the commuter buses
will be seen daily by thousands of commuters traveling in their cars to
downtown Los Angeles. The logo will represent Santa Clarita Transit as well
as the image of the City.
The design consultant will present her concepts to the Council and request
that the Council approve a logo design or give further direction on how to
proceed.
