SUBJECT: Gladiolus Dri)/e/Pinetree School Bus Loading Zone

BACKGROUND:
Mr. Jim Noonan of the Sulphur Springs School District has requested that the
City install a bus loading zone for the Pinetree Community School. The
proposed loading zone would be located on the east side of Gladiolus Drive
south of Lotusgarden Drive. This area is directly adjacent to the west
boundary line of the Pinetree Community School. Attached EXHIBIT "A" depicts
the site location. Attached EXHIBIT "B" depicts the location of the proposed
bus loading zone.
Gladiolus Drive is a two-lane street serving a residential area. The roadway
is 40 feet wide with curb and sidewalk on each side. On -street parking is
permitted. The prima facie speed limit is 25 mph.
Due to it's location, it is believed that the proposed bus loading zone will
not impose a serious parking impact on the surrounding neighborhood.
RECOMMENDATIONS•
Adopt Resolution No. 91-45 authorizing the parking prohibitions on Gladiolus
Drive. Direct staff to install appropriate signs or curb markings to effect
the parking prohibitions.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA
PROHIBITING THE STOPPING OR STANDING
OF VEHICLE ON GLADIOLUS DRIVE
WHEREAS, a request was made to prohibit parking near the Pinetree
Community School; and
WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California
provides for local authorities to prohibit stopping or standing of vehicles on
certain streets or highways, or portions thereof, during all or certain hours
of the day.
THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA does resolve
as follows:
Section 1. That the stopping, standing or parking of vehicle (School
Buses Excepted) shall be prohibited as follows:
(1) Gladiolus Drive, on the east side, from 100 feet south of
Lotusgarden Drive to 350 feet south of Lotusgarden Drive.
Section 2. That the prohibition of stopping, parking or standing of
vehicles as provided herein shall apply when appropriate curb markings or
signs giving adequate notice thereof have been placed as described in Section
1.
Section 3. The staff shall install the necessary curb markings or
signs to effect Resolution.
