SUBJECT: SIERRA HIGHWAY - WHISPERING LEAVES ET AL
(PROJECT 90-12)A- BID AWARD
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
BACKGROUND
On March 26, 1991, Council authorized the advertisement of the subject project.
The project provides for a slurry seal coat composed of liquid asphalt and sand
to properly maintain and extend the service life of those streets identified on
the attached key map.
On April 16, 1991, the following bids were received by the City Clerk:

Doug Martin Contracting Co, Inc. $61,329.56
Roy Allen Slurry Seal, Inc. $62,229.80
IPS Services Inc. $68,883.90
The Engineer's estimate for this project is $56,160. A total of $105,000 has
been budgeted under Account No. 25-96065-227 for design, contract
administration, inspection, and construction of this project.
Staff recommends that the project be awarded to Pavement Coatings Co., the low
bidder. Pavement Coatings Co. possesses the necessary State Contractor's
license and is a member in good standing. The contractor has completed a
similar project for the City of Santa Clarita and the work performed was
determined to be satisfactory.
Award the contract to Pavement Coatings Co. in the amount of $60,731.78.
