SUBJECT: VALENCIA BOULEVARD AT CREEKSIDE ROAD
PROJECT NO. SQ -19 - BID AWARD
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
BACKGROUND
On March 26, 1991 the City Council authorized the advertisement of the subject
project. This project provides for the installation of traffic signals at
Valencia Boulevard and Creekside Road.
On Tuesday, April 23, 1991 the following bids were received by the City Clerk.
COMPANY BID AMOUNT
1. Intersection Maintenance Service $58,873.00
2 Steiny and Company, Inc. 59,296.00
3. Raymor Electric 661000.00
The Engineer's estimate for this project is $71,571. .$119,500 has been budgeted
in Account No. 25-96026-227 to cover costs for design, contract administration,
inspection and construction.
This project is eligible for Federal funds and has been identified as FAD
Project No. M -Q064(600) CRP -L089(518). Council previously approved Master
Agreement No. 07-5450 on October 9, 1990, and Supplement No. 002 on November 26,
1990 to cover this project. Caltrans granted permission to -award the project on
May 3, 1991.
Staff recommends that the project be awarded to Intersection Maintenance
Service, the low bidder. -This contractor possesses the necessary Contractor's
license and is a member in good standing. The bid of $58,873.00 was reviewed
for accuracy and conformance to the contract documents and was found to be
complete. This contractor has performed similar work for the Cities of
Fullerton, Irvine and Huntington Beach, all of which indicated satisfactory
performance.
Award the contract to Intersection Maintenance Service in the amount of
$58,873.00
