Caravalho CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: November 10, 1992 SUBJECT: Bid for Computer Purchase DEPARTMENT: Management Services BACKGROUND On September 22, an item on the Consent Calendar identified going out to bid for personal computer (PC) equipment. On October 15, 1992 at 11:00, the bids were opened. Ten bids were received. After reviewing the bids, the responses to the bid specifications were inadequate to provide for a qualified bid. In order to clarify the responses, we request that the bids be rejected. A Request for Proposals (RFP) would be more appropriate, in this situation, to adequately evaluate added value for areas such as on-site warranty, responsive delivery, pricing consistency, etc. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that Council reject all bids and direct staff to pursue equipment through a Request for Proposal (RFP). ccbids.jcg APPROVED & ft Agandallem.: 0—
